Featured Candidate: Ben Bright

Ben Bright has announced his candidacy for Washington County Controller. Ben is running to replace Controller Mike Namie (Democrat). Mike has decided not to run for re-election after serving as controller for the past 20 years. Ben says, “Mike has done an outstanding job as controller, and I plan to build on his accomplishments. Mike’s service has been characterized by transparency and thoroughness, and Washington County deserves those qualities of its next controller.”
Ben has spent the past 13 years working in the gaming industry, primarily in a supervisory and management role. His experience will allow him to transition smoothly to the Controller’s office. “The job of County Controller, as with all of the row offices, is a management position. I pride myself on my attention to detail and in my ability to oversee county employees and to make sure they have the tools they need to succeed.”
Ben recently resigned his position as the Chairman of the Washington County Democrats to focus his efforts on the controller race. “I am 100% committed to running for Washington County Controller, and I wish to thank the Democratic Committee for allowing me to lead them over the past two and a half years.”
Ben graduated from Western Beaver High School in nearby Beaver County in 1988 and then earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Penn State University in 1994. He and his wife, Kelly, have lived in Smith Township since 2008. They have a son who lives in Washington.
