Featured Candidate: Marie Ferguson

With a desire to work for and provide service to all constituents of Smith Township, Marie Ferguson has intentions to be a candidate in the May 18th Primary for the position of Smith Township Supervisor. Her number one priority will be to ensure that the financial stability of Smith Township is improved upon.

A long time resident of Bulger, Smith Township, Marie recognizes the importance of giving back to her community and has shown by volunteerism and activism that she understands the needs of all the people she hopes to serve.

Working for 30 years for Mellon and Citizens Banks, Marie retired as an Assistant Vice President, addressing the financial interests of her customers. She continues to serve all communities as an active member/ volunteer with the Slovan VFW Auxiliary, Post 6553; the Burgettstown Area Food Pantry; the Burgettstown Senior Center; and DART. She was also elected by Smith Township constituents to serve as a Smith Township Auditor for the past 2 years.

Marie credits her late father, Anthony (Gracie) Dvorsak, for her dedication to her community and to her love of bowling. Gracie was the manager of the Burgettstown Slovenian Lanes for 30 years and also served on the Burgettstown City Council. Marie  enjoys bowling in two bowling leagues with her husband of 56 years, Lloyd (Fergie) Ferguson.
